The High School & Beyond Plan is a Washington State graduation requirement that helps students get the most out of high school because they're getting to know themselves better through self-assessment, thinking about all their possible futures using personalized career suggestions, and then working backwards to make sure they take the right classes and spend their time wisely now. Students work with school counselors and teachers to create their own “personalized pathway" through high school and revise their plan annually to accommodate changing interests or postsecondary goals. Counselors work together with teachers to deliver High School and Beyond Planning lessons in class, throughout the year. But just in case you missed a lesson or want to go back and review a portion of your HSBP, we've recorded video lessons for you!
Lesson #1: This video demonstrates how to login to your online CJSHS High School and Beyond Plan profile, navigate to the Career Planner module, and complete the three self-assessments: Preferences, Interests, and Skills.
Lesson #2: This video reviews the login process then covers how to review your self-assessment results to increase self-awareness and then use this self-awareness to research and find careers you might LOVE!
Lesson #3: This video reviews the login process then covers how to complete the Budgeting and Reality Check portion of the Career Planner module, which helps you figure out if the jobs you're interested in will be able to support the lifestyle you're hoping for. The easiest budget you'll ever make, promise ;)
Lesson #4: This video reviews the login process, the Reality Check results, and then dives right into exploring all the options out there (WA and nationwide) for programs and schools that support your ideas for the future. You'll also get a little official and set some educational and career goals for yourself!
Lesson #5: Now that you've finished your self-assessments, career research, and done some initial digging on programs and/or schools that might be of interest to you... it's time to map out a plan for high school that will get you closer to your goals and dreams! This video walks you through using the 4 Year Plan tool within your High School and Beyond Plan.
Final Lesson: This video is just for CJSHS Seniors and walks you through the final two steps to complete your High School and Beyond Plan for graduation:
1) building your Resume and 2) taking the Financial Aid Quiz. Then you're done!
