MAGLONZO, Jon Ray M
Led by Jon Ray M. Maglonzo, a researcher from Colegio San Agustin–Biñan, this study investigated actinomycetes collected from marine sediments in Islas de Gigantes, Iloilo. One bacterial isolate produced an extract that strongly inhibited yeast-cell growth and disrupted its cell cycle, suggesting that Philippine marine microorganisms may contain natural compounds worth investigating further for anticancer drug discovery.
