We will have 5 quizzes throughout the quarter, which are intended to replace our exams as summative assessments -- adjust your expectations accordingly! In particular, don't expect to get 100% on every one, or even any one. In past quarters, our exam median tended to be ~70%.
Quizzes will be administered in Gradescope. You may take the quiz anytime during the ~48-hour period during which it is assigned; additionally, you can submit incomplete answers and update previous as needed before the deadline.
Each quiz will generally cover material from the previous homework(s) and section(s), potentially some lecture, and reading material from that timeframe. Basically: you won't have questions from yesterday's lecture.
Quizzes are open-book and can be done in groups of unlimited size. Each person must submit their own quizzes individually after a "cool down" period >30m, and must disclose with whom they worked.
You can expect the quiz to take about 40-60 minutes to complete; if you are spending multiple hours on it, then your expectations for yourself are too high!
Section handouts have good practice problems.
We e do not have practice quizzes available. The questions will be similar to those from the below exams, but there will be fewer of them per test.
Below, we've listed problems from former exams, categorized by the topic and format.
The "mixed" topic has many true/false style questions.
