"We must teach people to believe and trust in Jesus in their actual life, and not just in their 'what-I-believe-because-I-am-a-Christian' life."
- Will Walker
Upstate Cru Discipleship Plan
"Discipleship is more than being friends - more than hanging out. It is building into someone so that you are taking her somewhere. Where are you taking her? Toward becoming a Christ-centered laborer. That is our mission– to develop disciples into Christ-centered laborers who will walk with Christ and serve Him for a lifetime. Someone who can walk, communicate, and multiply their faith." -from CruPress' A Primer on Discipleship
Each of these lessons are designed to help you lead someone as you both seek to follow Jesus and grow in your relationship with Him. The first three items are intended to be shared with everyone who comes to a Cru event, and will likely take the entire first semester to walk someone through. The following plan should typically take all four years of a student's undergraduate program, but can be used with professors, parents, or anyone else.
Before beginning a discipleship relationship, we highly recommend taking a listen (or a read) to Roger Hershey's talks on discipleship, and read the brief A Primer on Discipleship!
