As part of our commitment to helping every student succeed, we want to introduce you to a framework we use here at school called MTSS, which stands for Multi-Tiered System of Supports.
MTSS is a proactive and comprehensive approach we use to ensure that all students receive the support they need—whether that’s academic, social, emotional, or behavioral. It’s a system that helps us identify students’ strengths and areas where they may need extra help, and then provide the right level of support to help them thrive.
MTSS has three tiers of support:
Tier 1: Core Instruction – This is the high-quality teaching and learning that all students receive in the classroom. Most students will make progress with just Tier 1 instruction.
Tier 2: Targeted Support – Some students may need a bit more help in certain areas (like reading, math, or social skills). These students receive small group instruction or interventions in addition to Tier 1.
Tier 3: Intensive Support – A few students may need more individualized help. These supports are more focused and often provided one-on-one or in very small groups.
This tiered approach allows us to monitor progress closely and adjust supports as needed. Our goal is to meet your child where they are and help them grow confidently.
MTSS is a team effort. Teachers, specialists, and staff work together to support your child, and we keep families informed every step of the way. If your child is receiving additional support, you will be notified and involved in the process.
We believe that every child can learn and grow, and we’re here to ensure they feel safe, supported, and successful. If you ever have questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher or to our support team.
Thank you for partnering with us as we create a strong foundation for learning. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things our students will accomplish this year!
