NCSML Rossum's Universal Robots Book Club

Welcome to the R.U.R. book club website. Through a partnership between the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library and Metro High School, we hope to engage students in thoughtful discussions, at home activities, and readings. Rossum's Universal Robots was written by Czech author, Karel Čapek. RUR introduced the word 'robot' to the English Language and to science fiction as a whole and therefor is a seminal work and genre defining piece of literature. Karel wrote this play in 1920 and to celebrate its 100 year anniversary, the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library will be opening the exhibit "A Century of Robots" but until then read it for free online and have thoughtful group discussions with your peers.
