Audra Bailey is in her 23rd year of teaching and currently teaches 6th Grade Beginning Band at Cody and Pleasant View Elementary Schools in the Pleasant Valley School District. She made the transition to beginning band in 2014 after teaching 8th Grade Band and Jazz Band at Pleasant Valley Junior High for 11 years. Prior to coming to Pleasant Valley, she taught 5-12 Instrumental Music in the Calamus-Wheatland School District.
Audra graduated from St. Ambrose University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree and completed her Master of Arts in Teaching through Morningside University. She is an active member of the Southeast Iowa Bandmasters Association where she has served as Librarian, Junior High/Middle School Honor Band Chair, and Elementary Affairs Representative. She has served as Chair of the IBA Elementary Affairs Committee and is a proud member of the Iowa State Education Association and the Pleasant Valley Education Association.
Audra has been invited to be a guest conductor at many regional honor bands and stays musically active by accompanying students for local solo festivals and recitals throughout the Quad Cities. Audra lives in Davenport with her partner Carl and their spoiled black and tan short-haired dachshund, Lieutenant Kijé.
Dorothy Jacobi grew up on a farm in Hague, ND, and received her BA degree from Jamestown University in Jamestown, ND and her MM in Music Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Dorothy has served as co-director of 5-12 bands at Center Point-Urbana Community Schools in Center Point and Urbana, IA since 2013. At CPU she has the privilege of team teaching four concert ensembles, two jazz ensembles, marching band, and pep band along with pull-out lessons with her husband Dan. Prior to teaching at CPU schools, Mrs. Jacobi taught 5-8 bands in Solon, IA for nine years. Her teaching experience encompasses K-12 instrumental and vocal music for schools in Iowa, Nebraska, Washington and North Dakota. Her groups have performed for the Iowa Bandmasters Association Convention, Nebraska Music Education Association/All-State Conference, Nebraska State Bandmasters Convention, and consistently earn superior ratings at regional marching band, concert band and jazz festivals.
Mrs. Jacobi has served as president of the Northeast Iowa Bandmasters and Southeast Iowa Bandmasters Associations, as well as mentorship chairperson for the Iowa Bandmasters Association and Southeast Iowa Bandmasters. Mrs. Jacobi is highly-sought as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator throughout the state of Iowa. She has been the recipient of numerous honors recognizing her commitment to excellence in teaching and eduction, including the Philip Sehman Award, recognition by the Solon Optimist Club and University of Iowa Belin-Blank Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development, the Golden Apple Award, and the Someone You Should Know Award.
Dorothy and her husband, Dan, are the parents of two wonderful adult children and enjoy supporting them in their endeavors. Delaney is a sophomore at Northern Illinois University, studying percussion performance. Daniel (D.J.) is a photojournalist for the Hampshire Gazette and Associated Press, based in Northampton, Massachusetts.
