Additional Notes:
Teachers collect evidence throughout each semester that they use to determine a report card score for the each trimester.
Teams work together at the beginning of the school year to create a streamlined and manageable system for data collection throughout the year.
Teachers create a "body of evidence" to support their summative scores.
Report Card Comments
Report card comments are often the first thing that parents reference when they receive their child's report card so it is very important to establish a positive first impression. Comments should always be positive, informative, and professional. Here are some examples.
Comments should clearly communicate additional information parents need to know about their child's performance in a given area.
"Canned" comments are not particularly helpful. Teachers should ensure that there are no typographical errors and that comments are written in complete sentences. The most common comments error is to copy and paste without editing the child's name and/or using an incorrect pronoun.
