How are the knights Templar linked to Wetherby?

The Knights Templar is linked to Wetherby because in 1240  they created the Wetherby market, where local people could go and shop and look around. The market is located in the middle of the town hall. It  goes on every Thursday and Sunday.  It is still going on to this day 800 hundred years later. That is how the Knights Templar is linked to Wetherby. They also wrote the first historical written records about Wetherby.

The Crusades

The crusades were a series of military campaigns organised by popes and Christian western powers to take Jerusalem and the holy land back from the Muslim control and then defend those gains. There where eight major official crusades between 1095 & 1270, as well as many more unofficial ones.
