The 2016 Drummey Rosane Anderson Inc (DRA) School Conditions Study identified a number of issues with the current Cromwell Middle School including but not limited to the following:
Need to update fire and building code-related features including fire walls, sprinklers, and egress width
Non-ADA-compliant bathrooms and drinking fountains as well as wheelchair accessibility issues
Hazardous materials present in the building (asbestos)
Missing science rooms (x2)
Undersized classrooms (90 sq ft to 126 sq ft smaller than best practice)
Plumbing and electrical beyond life expectancy causing an inability to maintain temperatures and air quality
Aged telecommunication infrastructure that cannot support 21st century technology
The school has 4 different vintage years (1954, 1956, 1962, 1979) plus portable classrooms on the property (2001)
Building was originally the high school so it does not meet educational needs and specifications for the current grades residing in the school or today's educational methodologies
