Itinerary
Just wanted to send a quick update out as we get ready for bed here at Camp Alex. After our two hour delay at Pearson, we safely arrived in Vancouver and were transported to Camp Alex. The boys had their first cooking experience of the trip, working together to make pizzas here at the camp. Our local leader, Jeff, then ran us through some safety expectations and an overview of the coming week. Tomorrow we will explore Vancouver as a group and further prepare for our camping experience. I’m having trouble updating the blog from my phone but will send another update out tomorrow night!
Mr. Johnson
Hey folks,
We had an action packed day two, starting the morning with student made egg and sausage breakfast sandwiches to fuel up. Three of our brave boys then took a polar dip before we loaded up the vans for a day in Vancouver. Our first stop was Granville island, we allowed the boys to explore in small groups before getting together for salmon and cream cheese bagels for lunch. We then went on to UBC to explore the beautiful campus and take in some indigenous history. Next, we took the aquabus over to sunset beach and to, naturally, enjoy the sunset. We had a quick tour of Stanley Park before going on to JapaDog for dinner. The boys are currently doing a practice run at setting up their tents as we prepare for our big camping adventure. I should have service tomorrow night but won’t for nights 4 and 5. I will try to send an update out tomorrow but no news is good news!
The snow is gone and the sun is up and taking the best of the west coast. All the kids have passed their adventure journey and ate a wonderful butter chicken by the fire with the sharing of stories and hopes ahead. We are off to explore more of the intel today and take in our last night in the wild! We are now off to search for seals.

Hey all,
We have had quite the adventure over the last couple of days. On Wednesday, we woke up to big snow flakes falling on our tents. Highly unusual for this time of year, Mr. Shannon and I shivered while seeing the beautiful weather back in Toronto. The snow was beautiful and the boys layered up while we slowly got our day started. The sun eventually came out and we packed up and loaded our canoes for the journey to Tuwanek. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset as we set up our new camp. On Thursday we got out on the water early for our big paddle as we enjoyed a sunny day. The day included fresh Oysters, seals and bald eagles, along with the stunning mountain views. Once we got back to our camp at Tuwanek, we had to make a quick decision on whether to stay the night or head back to the front country. With rain and high winds forecasted for Friday morning, we decided to quickly pack up camp and load up the canoes as we raced the daylight. The waters were choppy at times but the boys did a great job keeping calm and paddling on. We arrived back at porpoise bay with 30 minutes of daylight to spare and got our dinner started while setting up camp. With the journey back already done, the boys enjoyed a bit of a sleep in this morning as the rain came down. We have just checked into the Oceanside Villas and the boys are all amped for a long shower. Our trip leader, Jeff, is surprising us with an upgrade for tomorrow night. The boys don’t know this yet, but we will be staying at the Sandman Hotel Vancouver airport instead of Camp Alex. Our Ferry tomorrow is at 6:30 PM, we should port at 7:30 PM and be at the Sandman around 8:30 PM. For those of you that were picking up from Camp
Alex, you can now get the boys at:

Hey everyone,
It has been all good vibes since our last update. The boys have never been more thankful for a hot shower and enjoyed a feast as we went out to a Chinese restaurant last night. After a restful night back on a mattress, we had a big breakfast at the hotel with ocean views. Today we tackled a hike through the B.C. rainforest and the boys reflected on their key takeaways from the past week. Mr. Shannon also set up a sweet friendship bracelet station as we celebrated the new relationships that have formed over our time together. We are currently on route to the Sandman hotel where we can enjoy our final night in comfort. It will be an early wake up for the boys as our flight is at 9:00 AM and we are also getting hit with the clocks going back. Don’t be surprised if the boys sleep for 12 hours when they get home. We will arrive back at Pearson at 4:35 PM tomorrow. Please check-out with one of us when you pick your son up.
See you soon,
