The Formal Interview

Should you progress from the morning’s teaching observation, you will be invited to a formal interview in the afternoon. This panel will consist of:

• School Governors

• James Handley – Executive Headteacher

• Natalie Doughty – Head of School

What to Expect

We understand that formal interviews can feel daunting, but please be assured that we view this as a two-way conversation. Our goal is not to catch you out, but to get to know the person behind the application.

This discussion is designed to explore your educational philosophy, your professional experiences, and how your personal values align with the ethos of our school. It is an opportunity for us to hear your "why"—what drives your passion for teaching—and for you to ask us questions about our community, our vision, and the support we offer our staff.

Progressing to Stage Two

Please note that the teaching task in the morning serves as the first stage of the day. Following the completion of the lessons, the panel will meet to determine which candidates will move forward to the formal interview in the afternoon. We will inform you of the outcome as soon as possible following your lesson so you can prepare for the remainder of the day.

We want you to feel at ease and perform at your best. We are looking for authenticity, energy, and a genuine commitment to our pupils' success.
