Curriculum Overview

I use several standards documents to inform my practice and work with students. The most significant of these include the Massachusetts Digital Literacy and Computer Science Standards developed in 2016. These standards give a comprehensive overview of the skills students should be targeting at each grade level. Using this document, I develop curriculum activities and lessons in collaboration with the librarians and other teachers and specialists at our schools. Included below are further resources including curriculum maps, project overviews, and standards documents. Please visit the CPS Educational Technology Department's website for more information.

Curriculum Map

This curriculum map was developed for the Graham and Parks community. Please note many of the activities are similar to those conducted at the Morse.

Project Examples

5th Grade Media Literacy

5th Graders across the district learn to be media literate. Media literacy is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and create media in a variety forms. Students work in teams to make their own commercials and Public Service Announcements to practice the media production process. As a culminating project, students choose to develop a PSA or a book trailer. Students use WeVideo to write, plan, produce, and share their very own media productions.

4th Grade Be Internet Awesome

One of the corner stones of any educational technology curriculum is a digital citizenship program. Digital Citizens are able to engage with the Internet in healthy, safe ways. Google's new Digital Citizenship curriculum, Be Internet Awesome, teaches students to be smart, alert, strong, kind, and brave online. Students engage in thoughtful activities around Internet use and then play games in teams to reflect and practice.
