I believe that the Level Up program has been overall beneficial for disadvantaged students who might be nervous about taking higher-level classes. I think it’s worked especially well for preparing students for honors-level classes, which are really important, not only for the sake of taking more difficult classes, but also because taking one-semester classes frees up more space in your schedule...However, I don’t believe that the Level Up program is living up to its promises in terms of improving enrollment for underrepresented students in AP classes. The leap from an honors class to a full-on AP class is just too intimidating for a lot of students... -- Ari Beckfield
I would have loved for someone who understood me, listened to me, gave advice (when needed), and knew the class curriculum, just to be there. I aspire to act in this place for the students I TA for. This continues the foundational ideas of the Level Up program because it uplifts the idea of “persisting the opportunity gaps and underrepresentation” of students in their courses. -- Nico Nesson
