The mission of the CNH School counseling department is to provide programing to address the academic, career, and personal/social needs of all students. We provide opportunity for students to gain an understanding of self and others in an environment that is safe, caring, and supportive and prepares them to thrive in a changing society. In partnership with other educators, families, and community members, CNH school counselors strive to empower students to maximize their potential and academic achievement.Â
HOW IS THIS ACHIEVED?
Some of the ways in which we achieve our goal of supporting the whole student include:
teaching developmental counseling lessons in the classroom
providing academic advisement and assisting in implementation of interventions
supporting students' social, personal and emotional needs individually
supporting student needs in small group settings
facilitating career exploration
working closely with parents and teachers to support our students
assisting students with organization of materials and time management
organization and implementation of Career Day, High School Options, and High School Course Fair
attending team meetings and parent meetings
providing families with resources in the greater community to meet needs
collaborating with students' outside services to support students in school
supporting students through the transition from 5th to 6th grade and then 8th to 9th grade
