Art 2

Course Description

Art II/Studio Art is designed to give you a more thorough investigation into the visual arts. Designed for students who are interested in developing a cohesive body of work and developing mastery of medium, technique, concept, composition and creation of ideas. Students will produce works that are relevant to their lives, as well as addressing issues pertinent to them, their community, and society as a whole. We will be working collaboratively to complete several large- scale projects, as well as independently to build better portfolios. We will work on college scholarship opportunities, and discuss students’ future goals in regards to visual art. Students should be prepared to work hard in class as well as at home. Keeping an organized sketchbook will be essential for this course and an active creative mind.

Art 2 Syllabus

Virtual Classroom Expectations

Participate in each lesson virtually through video and chat
Mute microphones while the instructor or another student is speaking

Refrain from using other personal electronic devices (i.e. cell phones) while engaging in remote classes
Be respectful of the instructor and other students
Use school appropriate language at all times in all forms of virtual communication

Office Hours and Appointments

We will follow a regular bell schedule with virtual learning, this means we all have live meets daily and that limits the time I can meet with you during the regular school day.

My school day office hours are during 1st period, 5th period and 7th period. All students have class 1st and 7th periods so this makes meeting with me for questions or help impossible. That said I am available to assist you after school hours but it is best to email me at kfkonz@cps.edu and let me know that you need help and what kind of virtual assistance you need; email, chat, or a meet.

Please refrain from sending me chats, emails or other messages that say things like: I need help or I don't understand, it helps me help you faster and more efficiently if you are specific about what you need help with or don't understand, respecting the time of each of us.

All google meets will be recorded and all emails must come through cps google accounts.

Materials

We worked really hard to put together art kits for all art students, they were available for pick-up on several occasions. We understand that a lot students and their families could not work out a time to pick up a kit and all projects and work will have substitutes and work arounds that take this into account.
