Last year, we launched Surgeon Juniors, a summer enrichment program designed for motivated students in grades 9-11 who are interested in medicine and surgery. The program was created with the mission of fostering the next generation of medical and surgical leaders and researchers from the South Side of Chicago by providing early, meaningful exposure to health care careers.
Through hands-on participation in surgical research, shadowing surgeons in clinic and the operating room, interactive lectures led by faculty surgeons, and academic skill-building including standardized test preparation, students gain insight into the medical profession while developing critical professional and academic skills. Our goal is to inspire and support students as they explore potential pathways in health care within a rigorous yet supportive learning environment.
Our intensive summer program runs for nine weeks, from June 15 through August 14, and applications are now open. We are seeking exemplary students from your school who would benefit from and contribute to this experience.
