Do I need to register or schedule for the exam?
No. All CPS students are automatically registered. All 8th-grade students are encouraged to participate in the CPS High School Admissions Test, with the exception of students who qualify for the DLM-AA.
What’s on the test?
The HSAT now only contains 2 sections: Reading & Math
How long does the test take?
1 hour (30 minutes for reading, 30 minutes for math)
Should I enroll in a Test Prep course?
CPS does not endorse any Test Prep courses.
My student has a 504/IEP. What does that mean for testing?
Depending on what is outlined in your child’s IEP or 504 plan, they may have accommodations such as added time, additional breaks, etc. If you have questions about your child's accommodations, please reach out to their special education teacher, or for students with 504 plans, reach out to the case manager, Ms. Pass.
