Using Your Chromebook!

Welcome! Use the information on this page to help you access and get to know the new Google Chromebooks in your classroom!

Logging Into a Chromebook

1. To log into your chromebook, look on the bottom left of your screen for the link with a "+" sign and the words "Add User"

2. Log in using your CPP Google account. The login is your network login@cppasd.com (ie jdoe@cppasd.com). Note: Do NOT use cppmail.com to log in. Google will let you make an account with that login, but it won't have access to the CPP Google

3. If you have not logged in before, use the district-set password. You'll be prompted to change it after your first login. If you've logged in before and can't remember your password, you can contact IT or Lori Pruyne to change the password.

The video to the right is not from CPP, but shows the login process for visual learners! :)

Using the Touchpad

The touchpad on the Chromebook looks different that a traditional laptop (mainly, the "mouse" buttons are missing).

The chart to the right demonstrates how to use the touchpad to help perform various functions on the Chromebook - most of us will want to focus on the first four points to start!

Finding Programs On the Chromebook Using the App Launcher

On a Microsoft laptop, there is a "Start" menu available on the bottom left for users to access different programs on the laptop.

On a Chromebook, in the same place, is the "App Launcher" (remember that "App" is the same thing as "Program").

The App launcher is an icon that shows three horizontal rows, each comprised of three dots (called the Google Waffle). Use the information below to utilize the different apps in the app launcher.

Chromebook Shortcuts:

The document to the right details a lot of helpful keyboard shortcuts that can be used with Chromebooks.
