A digital citizen who is appreciative is able to understand the advantages technology provides, inquire about the role technology plays in the lives of others in their communities, and think about how to create a healthy, balanced relationship with the technology in their life.

- Model basics of correct digital communication (use of CAPITALS, posting frequency, clarity in expression in an on-line format)
- Describe basics of what entails online/digital harassment
- Describe the qualities of both positive and negative online "communities" and interactions

- Identify ways in which an individual can be affected by his/her online presence (digital footprint)
- Recognize possible risks involved with online communication/interaction
- Identify strategies involved in minimizing the risks of online communication (structural - passwords, filters; personal - no identifying information, adult supervision)
