Direct Service Example 1: Guidance Curriculum
Each week students on our elementary campus participate in Character Education lessons that focus on academic, career, personal and emotional as well as post-secondary planning. In October, focus on bullying/drug abuse awareness, like most schools do. This year, after a guidance lesson on being a bystander vs an up-stander, we had students create anti-bullying campaign posters to hang around our campus. I was beyond proud of how serious they took the task and the work they put into their posters. I've linked a couple for your enjoyment!
Direct Service Example 2: Individual Planning
I am the 504 Coordinator for my district. This year, I am new to Cross Plains so I am having annual 504 meetings for ALL of my 504 students. Prior to the actual meeting, I meet with each junior high and high school student individually and we discuss their grades, accommodations, goals for post-secondary, the importance of advocating for themselves. They tell me their strengths and weaknesses. For Juniors and Seniors, when they express a post-secondary goal, I relay that goal to our Academic Advisor who then sets up a time to meet with that student regarding their specific goal whether it be a trade school, military, college or workforce. The students are encouraged to attend their 504 meeting along with their parents.
Direct Service Example 3: System Support
This year I implemented Character Awards for each six weeks, I call it the Buffalo Pride (Perseverance, Respect, Initiative, Determination, Excellence) Award. The first week of each six weeks during character education we focus on the character trait for that six weeks. Students who exhibit that trait are nominated by their teachers at the end of the six weeks and receive an award and recognition. (1st Six Weeks Buffalo Pride Award Recipients photo attached.)

Anti-Bullying Poster Campaign
Students created anti-bullying posters to campaign against bullying. Posters were displayed around the school.
"I'd rather eat bugs than do drugs!"
PK and Kindergarten participated in Red Ribbon Week and living a healthy life! They learned about making healthy choices and celebrated by eating bugs, (Annie's organic gummy bugs, of course!).
