I was anxious and delighted to start learning basic gymnastics in Unit Seven. My main objective was to acquire confidence in my ability to do basic tasks and to lay a strong foundation in them. I acquired a variety of skills throughout this unit, such as front scale, back scale, side scale , backward rolls, sideway rolls, teddy bear roll, crouch headstand, shoulder stand balance, cartwheel and side rotation while they are some i needed more practice on such as the forward rolls, backward rolls, tucked rolls, twisting dive cartwheel and rotation.
The sideway roll was easy for me at first, but I had a hard time getting the hang of the handstand, head stand balance and crouch head stand. Balancing in a handstand, headstand, or crouch headstand is challenging due to the need for strength, coordination, and body awareness. These positions demand precise muscle control and balance, making it tough to maintain stability. Consistent practice and mental focus are essential to master these complex gymnastic skills but i hope to acquire these skills in the near future.
It was very difficult to master forward rolls, backward rolls, tucked rolls, and round-offs because they call for a precise balance of strength, agility, and body control. Every move requires a well-planned series of movements that must be carried out fluidly to preserve balance and prevent harm. For example, round-offs need a strong push-off and a quick, precise twist, while forward and backward rolls require a firm grasp of how to tuck and protect the neck . These gymnastic skills are difficult to master because of how difficult it is to synchronize these movements and how demanding they are physically on the body.
I also find it very challenging to execute twisting, round-off, dive cartwheel and rotation in gymnastics because it involves so many intricate components. It takes an enormous amount of precision to twist while retaining the momentum of a dive and the form of a round-off. I have to control my body's rotation and alignment while also producing enough power to move forward. Time is of the essence; a small error in timing can cause the entire move to go terribly wrong. It's also difficult to land safely and correctly due to spatial awareness. To become proficient at this skill, one must possess strength, coordination, and unwavering practice.
My stability and balance increased gradually as I focused on proper body alignment and practiced regularly. My core strength and flexibility have significantly improved on a physical level. As I performed increasingly difficult techniques with success, my confidence in myself increased. My early difficulties with the back walkover were examples of frustrations I overcame, which gave me patience and persistence.
Collaboration with my peers was really helpful. Their support and advice enabled me to improve my methods. In addition, my instructor's critique gave me insightful information that helped me improve. I had fun experimenting with various cartwheel configurations and incorporating my own style into the motions. The practice sessions were great because of the creative process, which was entertaining and gratifying. On conclusion, unit seven was a transformative experience that deepened my passion for gymnastics. I am proud of my progress and look forward to continuing my journey, building on the solid foundation I have established.
