Weekend in Toronto & Niagara Falls: itinerary, activities, budget, food
Niagara Falls Awesome Things to Do and Amazing Places to See
When I shared my bike trip route with my neighbor who's from Toronto, she sent me many suggestions for places to see, etc. Here are some of her suggestions. She also raved about ice wine, which I will hope to taste. Makes me want to extend my stay at the end of the bike trip! She said that it will be hot and muggy weather, so be prepared.

This spot was a big hit with our group. Toronto
The Leslie Street Spit (Tommy Thompson Park) is a great spot for an urban hike or bike ride.
Trinity Bellwoods Park is a great spot for a summer picnic. Very close to Little Portugal, so you can grab some sandwiches and custard tarts and enjoy them in the park. And then take a stroll down Queen St. W. and grab coffee.
High Park is another great spot for an urban hike or a bike ride.
The Beaches is a fun summer neighborhood. Good restaurants and cafes, browse shops and a big calm body of water to swim in, if you're so inclined. Balmy Beach Park starts at Queen St. and goes right down to the beach and has a nice library in the middle of it. Heaven.
Another fun spot for an urban hike or bike ride is The Bentway which runs near the lake front, under a freeway. Toronto is such a bike-friendly place! A great site to check https://www.cycleto.ca/how-to-plan-your-bike-route
I have to recommend my old neighborhood (which has become nearly unrecognizable to me) for restaurants, brew pubs, coffee shops, wine bars, boutiques, etc. Ossington Ave., between Dundas and Queen (a few blocks from Trinity Bellwoods Park). Best custard tarts are at Venezia Bakery114 Ossington. Saudade is a fun shoppy-shop filled with Portuguese imports.
We have two excellent markets which are very different from each other. Lawrence Market is a classic indoor market like you find in big cities on the East Coast. It BUSTLES on Saturday mornings. If you go, grab a bacon sandwich from Carousel Bakery. That is the real deal - true Canadian bacon. On that note, have cash on your person. This is a cash-only spot and I have to say we came across cash-only spots more often than I planned for. The other market is my favorite - Kensington Market. It's an outdoor market, very colourful, combination of food stalls, restaurants, cafes, and shops. Standouts for me are Golden Patty for Jamaican patties, Nu Bugel for bagels and Global Cheese Shop (samples!!)
AGO is our premiere art gallery. It's located in Chinatown, which is another neighborhood worth a stroll. The ROM is also excellent, and located near Yorkville - Toronto's Union Square, which has come a long way from its Joni Mitchell/Neil Young busking days. Also worth a mention is the Bata Shoe Museum. A walk through history, with shoes at the center - who'd have thunk?
The neighbourhoods of Toronto really come alive in the summer. Little Italy (College St.), Greektown (The Danforth) and Little India (Gerrard Street) are three great locations for eating and strolling.
