About

History

Ms. Jamie Rambo and Ms. Carrie DeBilzan have been dreaming of creating Newnan High School's first literary magazine for about 6 years. Last spring, we were researching English clubs and found the National English Honor Society website. We approached Dr. Puckett for approval to apply for the esteemed club for our campus. This is Coweta County's first NEHS chapter. We filed and application and were approved in July 2022. Our first charter class received their invitations to join the club after a rigorous application process. Official invitations went out on Sunday, September 11, 2022. At our first meeting, Tuesday, September 13, new initiates were asked to contribute ideas for the official name of the NHS literary magazine. Our decision awaits voting and finalization. The dream of two NHS English teachers with a love and passion for the written word and seeing our student's work published led to the establishment of NEHS on the Newnan High School campus. It was the perfect collaboration of an honorary international English club, created and sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta (esteemed college-level English fraternity), and a literary pursuit for high school publication. Our club will be partnering with the NHS National Art Honor Society to create artwork for the magazine and to feature some of our school's top illustrators.
