October is Bullying Prevention month which includes "stomp out bullying" day (wear blue) and "unity" day (wear orange). Lessons and activities from the National Bullying Prevention Center are used throughout the month to educate students on preventing bullying through kindness, acceptance and inclusion. The Child Safety Matters curriculum is also used at the Elementary level and Second Step at the Middle School level to help students identify and stop bullying.
