October is Bullying Prevention month which includes "stomp out bullying" day (wear blue) and "unity" day (wear orange).   Lessons and activities from the National Bullying Prevention Center  are used throughout the month to educate students on preventing bullying through kindness, acceptance and inclusion.  The Child Safety Matters curriculum is also used at the Elementary level and Second Step at the Middle School level to help students identify and stop bullying. 

Currently our schools have various bullying prevention programs in place :

• Kindness Week Campaigns coordinated by ELEVATE & Abby’s Angels

• Olweus Bullying Prevention Program 

• Kindness Cards distributed to students

• Peer & Student  Ambassadors: Welcome New Students & No child eats alone 

• Peer Mediation with Administration when incident occurs

• “See something, Say /Send Something”  &   No Hate Newnan Campaign 

• Everyone Matters Board with the name of all the students and teachers 

• Start With Hello Week youth violence prevention w/ Sandy Hook Promise

• Clubs that promote kindness and connectedness: The Companion Club, Heartbeat Club

• Counselor guidance lessons and Conflict Coaching

• Anonymous bullying reporting box 

• Weekly announcements and counselor messages

• HOUSE concept to build unity by instilling a sense of community, acceptance and tolerance
