Embedded Computing

Understanding 4-, 5-, and 6-band resistors

What is embedded computing?

The common industry term for this is "Internet of Things". In today's world of smart cars, intelligent factories, and wearable technology, blue-tooth enabled technology is everywhere. We are inundated with data everywhere and interact with devices and our devices interact with each other.

In this course, students will learn the basic terminology of IoT and begin to explore the power it has. The class will include the following modules:

        • Basic networking protocols for industry, homes, and the internet

        • Build simple circuits and draw schematic diagrams

        • Learn basic physics principles of electricity/electronics while learning about various sensors and electronic parts

        • Interfacing circuits

        • Work with Circuit Playground, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi devices

        • Performance aspects of various types of motors

        • Programming for EC/IoT applications

        • Debugging hardware and software

        • Cloud Service features

        • Design an embedded computing application that solves a current problem

        • Special topics in IoT and IoT security
