Homework in middle school may be graded and averaged in as a portion of a student’s grade. This must be explained to rising 6th grade students so they understand that they will be held accountable for correctly completing homework. Their grade will drop if they consistently do not turn in completed homework on time!
Students have six classes in a school day with six different teachers whose classroom expectations may differ slightly. Students may have homework in multiple subjects each night depending on what was finished during class. Time Management, both at school and at home, becomes critical to student success at Bass Middle School and your 6th grade teachers will spend a lot of time throughout the year teaching and demonstrating what good study skills/habits look like. Students should not spend more than one to two hours on homework each night.
