Pell Award for Excellence in History

Established by the Pell family, the Pell Medal for excellence in the study of United States History is named for U.S. Rep. Herbert C. Pell and his son, U.S. Sen. Claiborne Pell. Senator Pell served in the Senate for 36 years and worked to strengthen American foreign policy.

This medal is awarded to one student at each high school in the state who has excelled in the study of U.S. history. The award is a testament to the Pell family belief that understanding American history is essential to leadership.

Outstanding Achievement in Psychology

Presented by the American Psychological Association, the Outstanding Achievement in Psychology Award is presented to the student who excels in the study of behavioral science.

Luther Whetstine Scholar Athlete Award

The Luther Whetstine award is named after a former Social Studies Department chair and track coach. It is awarded to a student who is an exceptional student of history and is also an outstanding athlete.

Civics Participation and Promise Award

The Civic Participation and Promise Award honors a graduating senior who demonstrates exceptional academic achievement in civics-related courses and a passion for understanding political science and current events.
