The carillon reinstallation continues. After building some new framing in the bell chamber, all the bells, old and new, were lifted into place. The new clavier has been assembled. All of the bells received new clappers and an updated mechanism that attaches them to the clavier. The old clock system has been taken down after 57 years of loyal service and is being replaced by a digitally controlled clock. Today, electricians are in the bell chamber running new cables to the electric strikers that will signal the quarter hours and hours for the next 50 years. The workers from Royal Eijsbouts expect to have all the work completed and be on their way home by Wednesday, June 4. This restored and renovated carillon will be among the best instruments anywhere. Keiran and I can’t wait to start playing.
Would you enjoy working as the Office Receptionist for Covenant? The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful, the routine is pleasant and easy to manage, and the company is welcoming. The office is open Monday through Friday and Sunday mornings. You may bring a lunch and make a day of it from 9 am to 4 pm, or help out mornings from 9 to noon or afternoons from noon to 4.
Your primary duties involve answering phones and greeting visitors; in each case directing them to the appropriate staff member as requested and/or appropriate to get the “mission accomplished”. If you would like to join our volunteer staff, leave your name and contact information with the church office and we’ll be in touch.
