The Independent Newspaper, one of Nigeria's National Daily Newspapers, on July 13, 2024, reported Covenant University's hosting of the Young Leaders Programme information session of McKinsey & Company. The International Office and Linkages, under the leadership of its Director, Dr Isaac Akinwumi, organised the event.
Ms. Damilola Olaniyan and Ms. Gift Aghaulor from Covenant University's Department of Petroleum Engineering successfully participated in the Industrial University of Tyumen (IUT) Summer Institute. The Director, International Office and Linkages at Covenant University, Dr. Isaac Akinwunmi, expressed his delight at their participation.
Carbon Brief Ltd, a UK-based organization known for its in-depth analysis and reporting on climate science, climate policy, and energy policy, summarised the Chapman Conference on Climate and Health for Africa that was held at the American Geophysical Union’s headquarters in Washington DC, United States from 12-15 June 2023. This included the summary of the presentation by Dr Isaac Akinwumi on “Coastal Erosion and Flooding in Lagos threaten Public Health and Well-being”.
The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), a leading UK-based economic research institute, presented a summary and the video of a webinar co-organised by Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Water Resources (FMWR), Covenant University (Nigeria), The World Bank, Royal Holloway University of London (RHUL, UK), and the International Development arm of the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS, UK) on 25th January 2021. Dr Isaac Akinwumi presented the findings of the collaborative research on “WASH Environments, Sanitation Policies and Health Outcomes during the First 2000 Days of Life”. The project was geared at reducing under-five mortality in Nigeria via improving water supply, sanitation and hygiene. Through the support of the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK, the project provided handwashing buckets with taps and soaps to 70 daycare centres or preschools in Ota, Ogun State, to improve handwashing hygiene among children and to prevent or minimise the spread of COVID-19 during the pandemic.
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), in March 2019 requested Dr Isaac Akinwumi to provide expert comments on a tool developed by some Australian researchers to anticipate landslides on rubbish mountains – potentially helping the millions who live and work on them. The tool was described in the article titled “The new tech that detects deadly slides on rubbish mountains”.
