SCIENCE

The Science page is the main resource center for everything we are learning in 5th grade science. Use this page to review current topics, revisit important concepts, find class resources, and prepare for quizzes and assessments.

Science will be organized by module or unit so students can easily find the topic they are studying.

Each module may include:

• Current Science Focus — a brief explanation of what we are learning.

• Learning Targets — student-friendly “I can” statements for the lesson or unit.

• Essential Questions — important questions that guide our investigations and discussions.

• Vocabulary — key science terms students need to understand and use.

• Student Readings — informational texts and background information connected to the topic.

• Diagrams and Visuals — charts, models, illustrations, and other resources that help explain science concepts.

• Investigations and Activities — directions, observation sheets, data tables, and supporting materials for hands-on science experiences.

• Science Notebook Connections — reminders about observations, diagrams, explanations, CER responses, and other work completed in the science notebook.

• Practice and Review — questions and activities that help students review important concepts.

• Study Materials — vocabulary, review guides, and other resources for quizzes and tests.

Students can use the Science page during class as a resource and at home to review what they have learned, catch up after an absence, or prepare for an upcoming assessment.

The goal is for students to do more than memorize science facts. Throughout the year, they will be encouraged to observe, question, investigate, analyze evidence, explain their thinking, and make connections between science and the world around them.
