5th year Spanish is conducted completely in Spanish. Students will use Spanish to communicate with the instructor and with classmates. Students will continue to acquire Spanish in all of the 4 modes of communication: listening, speaking, reading and writing on a variety of topics sustainability, environment, poverty, education, families in different societies, the influence of language and culture on identity, influences of beauty and art, how science and technology affect our lives, factors that impact the quality of life, and environmental, political and societal challenges. Students will communicate accurately and effectively to perform a variety of functions: inquire, describe, compare, debate, recount, etc. Students will increase their knowledge and understanding of the practices, perspectives, and products of Spanish and Latin American cultures.
