Weeks of September 23rd and September 30th
Students are working on parts of speech and diagramming. Diagramming provides a better support when learning the parts of speech.
Students enacted the first act of "A Midsummer's Night Dream" and really threw themselves into character. Soon, will be paralleling the Old English version shortly. We discussed the life of William Shakespeare and watched a cartoon version of the scene which they enacted.
Our writing project is well underway. Our students have chosen family member whom they wish to mail their projects, practiced and addressed the envelopes, worked on the salutation and have either designed their own Corpus Christi Mascot or used a provided mascot. Please be advised that the mascot will be named individually by every student. It would be appreciated if you would take some pictures of your child participating in their favorite activities with their mascots. Thank you! Upon completion of the project, the mascot will travel with your child's letter to the letter's destination. In turn, your child will request that the recipient take pictures with the mascot and return them to Corpus Christi. The body of the letter takes more thought and will be completed in class. Please return the mascot and pictures to school by October 17th.
In Reading, the boys and girls have read about the effects of technology and ways in which inventions have aided people to lead better and more productive lives.
Have a great week!
During the next two weeks, your children will be working on the Inventor's Project. Every parent was asked to sign off on the project. Inventions and purposes for inventing were discussed at length, including funding for projects. The students will be writing an Expository Text discussing the circumstances which caused inventors to create new projects. Homework will be light during this period of time and there will be no Spelling test until this project has been completed.
