Why

Mission Statement

Conceived by Wendy Beckemeyer while reflecting on her career; all the triumphs, and struggles, she has undergone. Thinking thoughtfully on how she could give back to the community that has allowed her so much, Pay It Forward was born. Connecting with some of the colleagues she has admired and grown close personal relationships over the years, it took just one short email to get it started.

Pay It Forward was built with women in middle managerial positions in mind. Understanding how your duties differ from one position to another; understanding the duty to those who work under you (Servant Leadership); understanding how the decisions you make affect those around you and what that entails (Legal Obligations as a Leader). How intentional communication with your colleagues can help them not only become more productive but be happier working with clarity (Intentional Communication); creating a happy and effective work environment for yourself and those around you. Learning to balance finances for your company and yourself can make you better at what you do (Financial Acumen).

Building who your voice and being assertive as a woman, learn how to get what you need when you need it, foster your career (Game-Changing Influence and Negotiation Strategies for the Professional Woman). Allowing your passion to grow instead of being diminished by what most consider to be the industrial machine, learning to follow your dreams and set achievable goals on that path (Taking Risks and Following Your Passion). Growing your knowledge from one place to another and how valuable that can be, and seeing value in furthering your education the right way (Furthering Your Education). And finally understanding you are a person; allowing yourself to have needs; to learn to take care of those needs one day to the next and curbing burn out (Self-care).

This amazing group of women have come together to share the knowledge they've acquired throughout their impressive careers. They are all voluntarily giving their time to speak with you because they felt compelled to encourage those who were once like themselves. Ultimately giving back to the community that helped them, so that they might see their future successors flourish. Give resources. Offer that word of encouragement when you have decided you have reached a plateau.

Understanding you have a community to support you. People who want to see you succeed. Sharing information to ensure you will. That's what Pay It Forward is about. Giving back the gifts we have all received.
