Covid-19 Policies

Student Theatre Council Covid Policies

As we restart in-person productions STC remains conscious of the current health crisis. STC’s policies are outlined below. As circumstances are constantly changing, this policy may be altered to stay in accordance with school, local, or county mandates. If you have any questions about the policy, please reach out to stc@cornellcollege.edu.

In accordance with Cornell College’s mask mandate extension, all productions rehearsing and performing in indoor spaces will be required to mask until October 17th. Productions continuing past, or starting after, October 17th will follow procedures outlined below.

Masking during the production process

Once a production has been cast, the members of the cast and production team will be asked about their comfortability with masking on the production forms. These forms will only be seen by the STC Production Manager. The questions that will be asked are as follows.

  • Do you feel comfortable with members of the cast and production team having the option to be unmasked for the rehearsal portion of this production?

    • Response options include “I am not comfortable with a mask optional policy,” “I am not personally comfortable being unmasked, but I am comfortable with others following a mask optional policy,” and “I am comfortable following a mask optional policy.”

      • If any member of the production responds that they are uncomfortable with a mask optional policy, all members of the cast and production team will be required to be masked for the rehearsal portion of the production

  • Do you have a condition that requires you to be unmasked some or all of the time?

    • Any individuals who answer “yes” to having a condition that requires them to be unmasked will be referred to the DEAI chair and Production Manager who will determine what accommodations can be made. These accommodations may include, but are not limited to being allowed mask breaks as necessary and being provided with a face shield. Individuals will not be required to disclose their condition or disability to receive accommodations.

  • (Performers Only) Do you feel comfortable being unmasked for the performance of this production?

    • Performers will have a mask optional policy. Performers who answered “no” to feeling comfortable being unmasked for the performance of the production will be provided a mask by the costume designer as part of their costume.

Performance Procedures

  • Production team and crew mask policy will be determined as per the comfortability they noted on their forms. They will be notified by the Production Manager of the policy the day before the tech process begins.

  • The audience will be encouraged to wear masks. Masks will be provided at the door to those who do not have one. This policy will be noted on the poster.
