• Pneumatic bones: hollow bones important for respiration. Connected to the chicken’s respiratory system.
• Ex: skull, humerus, clavicle, sternum, pelvic girdle, lumbar and sacral vertebrae
• Medullary bones: important source of calcium for laying hens. Laying hens need 47% of body calcium to make the egg shell.
• Ex: tibia, femur, pubic bones, ribs, ulna, toes, scapula
