Kidney- makes urine and excretes waste through urine, the kidney also maintains sodium concentrates, also maintains PH in blood. The cow kidney is multi lobular as well.
Cortex- Outer layer of the kidney
Medulla- Inner layer of the kidney
Urinary bladder- This is where the urine is stored before being excreted, the urinary bladder is smooth muscle, also the bladder can stretch when needed if urine is filling inside using stress relaxation. transitional epiphyllum in the bladder also allows for stretching.
Renal Pyramid- A circled lobed in the cortical region. It is located in the medulla, the renal vein picks up blood and it is transported throughout the renal pyramid.
Lobes- Transport blood throughout the kidney
Minor Calyxes- Surrounds the renal papillae of each pyramid and collects urine from that pyramid.
Major Calyxes- Is a formation of many minor calyxes. From the major calyxes the urine flows from the pelvis then down to the ureters.
The urinary systems works by blood flowing through the renal veins in the kidney to be filtered and into the renal pyramid to be filtered. The waste in the blood is then processed into urine by the kidney. The kidney then transport the urine through the pelvis into the ureters and then to be stored into the urinary bladder.
