Biosafety Cabinets (BSCs) are the principal form of "primary containment" used in biosafety laboratories. Ensuring that all of the components in a BSC are functioning properly and that the system is offering the protection that it's supposed to is the purpose of certification.
BSCs must generally be certified annually or whenever they are moved.
Core Technical offers full Biosafety Cabinet certification services in addition to Biosafety Cabinet decontamination.
Did you know:
BSCs should be re-certified if their surroundings change, even if they remain stationary. If a walking path, large furniture or the location of an HVAC grille nearby is changed, this can affect the protection offered by the BSC.
BSCs come in many different classes and types, some of which require certification not just of the BSC, but the exhaust system connected to it.
BSCs must be decontaminated with one of the following before they can be certified:
Paraformaldehyde
Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide
Chlorine Dioxide
