If you need to miss a lesson it is your responsibility to catch up on the missed work. You should make contact with the class teacher and complete any missed work within one week unless this is not possible due to medical reasons.
Unplanned absences should be reported by emailing attendance@connell.ac.uk before 9.00am on the day of absence. College must be notified on each day of absence. If you are absent for 2 full days with no contact from home, a call home will be made by a member of the safeguarding team. Home visits will be performed by members of the safeguarding team when there is continued absence with no contact from home.
Student absences are not acceptable, except in exceptional circumstances where evidence has been provided.

If you need to miss a timetabled lesson for any reason you must email attendance@connell.ac.uk with evidence to support your absence, so it can be processed and the registers updated before the absence. Pre-planned absence must be requested at least 1 week before, the sooner the better. Bookable appointments such as GP, dentist driving lessons etc. should be made in free periods or outside of college hours. Hospital, Orthodontic or Driving Test etc. appointments are usually hard to pick so will be approved. Emergency appointments can be reported and evidence provided after the appointment so attendance can be updated after the event and backdated.
If you feel unwell during the day while at College you must go to Hive in the first instance to seek help and if appropriate arrange to go home. In the interests of student safety, you are not permitted to leave the building due to illness without going through this process.
