In roughly two months from now I will be in grade 12. I'm kind of freaked out about it because I feel like time has been going by super fast lately. I already know what I want to do once I graduate and I plan to find internships that will help me get more experience for it. I have already applied to Aveda which is a hair school and all that's left for me to hand into them is my high school transcript which they said I could send them once I graduate.
So I plan on finding internships in a beauty supply store so I can learn about the different types of products and who they're best for. Or in a hair salon where I could learn how to at least style hair, since you can't cut hair until you're certified or have your licence.
My reason for choosing to go to a hair school is because I love doing my own hair whether that be cutting, dyeing, or styling it and I would love to be able to do that for other people. The really cool thing about Aveda is that they teach you how to work with textured hair. I've had and still currently have friends with textured hair and I always thought it would be cool to be able to help them with certain hair styles. It wasn't until I had my career planning session at Aveda that I learned how much money a hair stylist makes, I already knew that once you have your licence you're pretty much certified all over the world which for me makes me feel very secure with what I'm doing in the sense that I won't have to worry about not being able to find a job where ever I decide to live.
My STP Idea
I really just want to do a bunch of women related issues because our existence seems to be an issue.
I want to talk about how women are still treated awfully and we are still seen as inferior to men.
Also women of colour in the media, the lack thereof, and how religions treat women because we live in a highly religious world and the effect that it can have on young girls.
Essential Questions
Why is being a woman such an issue?
Guiding Questions
Why are women still treated awfully?
Why are women never heard?
Why is being a woman such an issue?
Why are women taught to fear men?
Credits I'll most likely do next year
If i take another ela credit it can go towards my STP and any other projects where I decide to do a research paper.
I really like Psychology so I’ll probably do another project with topics that involve it.
