The following teachers recently earned their masters’ degrees from Grand Cayon University (GCU).
Mr. Dickerson, CPA’s SOAR (Students Owning Academic Responsibility) educator is working toward his goal of becoming a principal. He said other education professionals were aware of his goal and told him about GCU. After speaking with the school representatives, he knew it was the way to go. The program for his leadership degree was two years and he is going back in February for his Doctorate (Ph.D.), a three-year program. “GCU was a good fit for me in all aspects.” Mr. Dickerson anxiously awaits the day he will be officially known as Dr. Dickerson.
Ms. Poindexter graduated with her Masters in Educational Leadership. “ GCU wasn’t how I expected it to be, they were very strict and a very hard school to please.” Ms. Poindexter didn’t have much fun because time was limited and she had to study and work hard. Ms. Poindexter originally was inspired to get a degree in Educational Leadership from her time working at Aspire Academy (Walnut Park). Ms. Poindexter’s attraction to GCU was convenience. Ms. Poindexter worked through her program virtually, “Online learning isn’t for everyone regardless of age.”
Ms. Fryer A chemist by trade, Ms. Fryer graduated this May from GCU with a Masters in Secondary Education. She loved that her program only took two years to complete. “Learning virtually while in school was pretty tough but the professors were endearing and at the same time encouraged," said Mrs. Fryer.
The student of the month is used to celebrate the students that are being role models and as a way to let them know that they are recognized and appreciated. Teachers recommended students each month, then they voted on those who were recommended. Students who get honored as a student of the month get a goodie bag full of things like their favorite snacks.
