School Counselor & Friday Clubs

School counselors design and deliver school counseling programs that improve student outcomes. A high school counselor, like Mr. Cook, can help with anything that has to do with school. He can tell you what work you are missing and what classes you are failing. He can also help you get a job and help you apply to college. Mr. Cook also has a Google Classroom that students can join and see all the opportunities he posts from college, military, and career guest speakers. His Google Classroom join code is: pnaaton

Friday clubs are a new and fresh addition to the 2021-2022 school year. The clubs give students a chance to find new hobbies and interests. Some of the few clubs that were included this school year are: hair club, film club, dance club, singing club, Nintendo Wii Club, and even a no baking cooking club. There are many other amazing and different clubs that the school also offers. English teacher, Ms. Frankenberg, has a board game club, ¨My club contributes to a fun learning environment and also gives students a mental break at the end of the week. Many students agree and look forward to the Friday club day because it gives them a chance to unwind and have fun after a long week. Ms. Frankenberg adds,¨I like my club because I have gotten to know some of my students a bit more, and I have also met some new students. We have played games that I liked as a kid, and the students have also introduced me to some new games as well.” She also states, “By playing board games, students are learning the value of teamwork, critical thinking, and cognitive skills. Mrs. Luker says, ``We started Friday club day because we wanted to give students opportunities to learn new skills, and hobbies, and explore their own talents. We also wanted the students to have an opportunity to meet different teachers and see them in a non-academic way. Additionally, it was a way for the students to have more voice and choice in school.´´
