The seniors at CPA are planning and celebrating senior events!! Ms. Christina Smith said planning seniors trips have been fairly easy. Seniors vote on where they want to go each semester and what wins the most votes is where they go. Seniors must maintain a 90% attendance and 80% course passing rate. Ms. Smith says, “I want seniors to know that the entire CPA staff stands behind them in support and encouragement and will provide all they can to help the class of 2024 while they are students and transitioning into their future roles.” With COVID still around they are doing a good job planning the trips. The staff is going to make sure all students are required to wear their masks even if the venue does not have a mask mandate. They will also have to fill out the COVID pre-screen before leaving CPA and we take all the necessary precautions during the field trip.

There’s a new Chromebook policy at CPA that not only benefits student learning in high school but beyond as well. Now, most sophomores and all freshmen receive a Chromebook and get to keep the Chromebook after they graduate. In the past, classrooms were designed with a Chromebook tower and everyone had to share Chromebooks. Now, all students have their own Chromebook to use at school and at home--no more sharing, everyone has a Chromebook assigned to them. Junior Skyler Lambert says she’s not upset that she’s not getting to keep her Chromebook, “They are always breaking and something is always wrong with the Chromebooks and they work very slow.” If a student breaks or forgets their Chromebook at home the teachers can submit a technology ticket to get them a loaner or a replacement depending on the situation. Some teachers have extra Chromebooks, but students can only use that Chromebook in that class as they aren't allowed to take it from that class. Many juniors and seniors are disappointed that they don’t get a Chromebook to keep after high school, but Dr. Smith who oversees CPA technology and Chromebook distribution says that was not her decision. Skyler says “It's lame that the juniors and seniors cannot get the newer Chromebooks.” Sophomore student Clyde Green thinks this Chromebook policy is beneficial, “I won't have to buy a computer when I go to college.”
