Mighty Things: Harmony

Harmony prevails throughout the works of our Creator; it is perceivable in all living things, even to the minutest fibre of the smallest field-flower, and it is their just and symmetrical proportions which delight us by throwing a pleasing harmony over the whole. In poetry, sublimity of ideas, brilliancy of imagination, and the reasoning of philosophy, would be as nothing, if the versification did not harmonize and strike in sweet numbers on the ear.

In short, trace nature throughout all her various forms, you shall find that harmony is still her great connecting bond, which, blending itself with the finer and more exquisite feelings of the soul, softens and subdues its harsher passions, and bends them to kindness and virtue.

How enviable are the sensations of those who, entering into all the delights of harmony, feel her spell most potent when allied to music ! [1]

Saturday 5 November 2022 General Rehearsal with Orchestra @ VNOB Rehearsal Space

Reminder to students to eat lunch at home, and bring a snack and water bottle.
Bus Departing: student homes;
Going to Viet Nam Opera Ballet, 11 Nui Truc, Ba Dinh.
There is parking at the local school called: Nguyen Trai High School which is 40.000vnd for unlimited parking
Time: arrive by 1.15 pm
depart 5.45 pm

Wednesday 9 November 2022 General Rehearsal with Orchestra (for Ministry for Culture) - Full Dress Rehearsal @ VNOB Rehearsal Space

This dress rehearsal performance will be checked by the Ministry of Culture
Reminder to students to bring Concordia Choir Performance Attire.
- Girls will be invited to change into a White dress which VNOB will hire (but if they forget, we will be in black). Boys will be provided bow ties, but bring black ties in case needed.
Food and Relaxing time at school between 3-5pm we may show the documentary of the choir (so far).
Bus Departing: From school

Thế giới đang trải qua những thời khắc đau thương của dịch bệnh, thảm họa…. Điều đó khiến cụm từ “Hòa bình” càng trở nên trân quý hơn.

Để góp một tiếng nói nhỏ bé vào niềm mong muốn chung về một tương lai tươi đẹp, về hòa bình và hạnh phúc của người dân trên toàn thế giới, Nhà hát Nhạc Vũ Kịch Việt Nam tiên phong đưa chương trình Đại hợp xướng “Vì hòa bình - A Mass for Peace” về Việt Nam để ra mắt khán giả. Chương trình có sự góp mặt của 200 nghệ sỹ, diễn viên đến từ VNOB và các dàn hợp xướng quốc tế khác.

“Vì hòa bình - A Mass for Peace” là một tác phẩm của Karl Jenkins, nhà soạn nhạc đến từ xứ Wales. Tác phẩm vẽ lên bức tranh sự đau thương, mất mát của các nạn nhân trong thảm họa. Giai điệu bi thương đôi lúc xen kẽ bằng những khoảnh khắc suy tư và kết thúc với khát vọng hòa bình trên toàn thế giới.

The world has been suffering from pandemics, disasters, etc. That makes the word "Peace" even more respectable.

In order to contribute a voice to the desire for a better future, peace and happiness of people all over the world, the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet decided to organize the Really Big Chorus “The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace”. The program will be performed by more than 200 artists from VNOB and other international choirs.

“The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace” is a work by Karl Jenkins, a Welsh composer. The work paints a picture of the grief and loss of characters in the disaster. The tragic melody is sometimes interspersed with moments of reflection and ends with a yearn
