Ken Burns Effect
A visual effect applied to a still image that creates animation. An example would include zooming out from a small object to show the entire landscape. It makes the image more appealing to the audience. This effect can be used in a variety of ways to draw focus to particular subjects in the shot.
Transitions
This is how we move from one shot to the next shot in a video
Cut - fast jump to the next shot. Most common type of transition, great for action!
Cross Fade - slowly dissolves in the next shot. Very eligant and great for still images
Fade in from Black - Screen turns from black slowly into the picture. Most videos start with a black screen. Softer and more elegant.
Fade out to Black - Screen slowly dissolves to black. Best way to end video or to show the passing of time.
Many other animated transitions - there are many other transitions to choose from that are fun and may better match your video type, but can look unprofessional if used all the time.
On Screen Text
Titles - Big text in the centre of the screen. Used for video titles or names of actors at the beginning of the video
Sub Titles - small text located at he bottom of the screen. Used for the hearing impaired, translations or to add information about the video like location.
