Audacity Tutorials

Tutorial 1:

• Setting Up Microphone

• - Click on the arrow below the microphone symbol

• - Select the start monitoring option

• - Red bar should start moving when talking into mircrophone

If its not working?

• - Make sure the orange light on your keyboard above the microphone symbol is off

• (Hold down fn and press key to turn on and off)

Making a basic recording

• - Click on the Red Circle or Record Button

• - Leave 5 seconds of silence before speaking

• - Speak into the microphone some blue waves should appear

• - When finished press, WAIT 3 seconds, press STOP

Remember:

• - If you make a mistake, keep going we can edit it out later

• - Speak slowly and consistently

Tutorial 3:

• Adding Background Music

• - File -> Import -> Audio (Select Audio Track)

• - It Should Appear as another track under Audio

• Remove/Delete part of a Track

• - Highlight part of track with selection tool

• - Press DELETE on keyboard

• Time Shift Tool

• - Select the Time Shift tool and drag the Voice Over track left and right

• Ducking Music Under Voice

• - Select the Envelope Tool

• - Select the position on the background music track where you would to duck the audio under the voice by clicking at the start and end of the section

• - Drag the track down to a level where you can here the voice over.(Remember lower height = not as loud)

• Fade In and Out Background Music

• FADE IN: Using the selection too,highlight the first second of the track

• - Go to EFFECTS -> Fade In

• FADE OUT: Using the selection too, highlight the last second of the track

• - Go to EFFECTS -> Fade In
