The Student Drama Club is performing the show 12 Angry Jurors on November 1st and is working tirelessly in the auditorium to make this vision a reality.
The directors of drama, Tom Mcguire and Bridget Myers, spend countless hours preparing, stating that they “start discussing it at the end of the previous year, then pick the show, set dates for auditions and the show dates.”
While Mcguire and Myers both play a crucial role in the production of this show, every member of Student Drama is vital to its success. Maddie Dobias, for example, is the stage and lights manager. She states, “I take care of the set and costume designs, and I am also the lighting manager”- a role, without which, the show could never succeed.
Obviously, the people actually on stage are also essential to its production. Anthony Carbaretta, one of the show's actors, says, “I play the clerk, and I only have one line, but that's okay cause I think it’s essential”, showing just how in-depth each member's commitment and position goes.
You may ask, why do all of these people commit endless hours at school rehearsing and rehearsing, even if they get little recognition for their efforts? Jacob Lapolla, stage crew, summarized the unanimous answer to that question when he said “I just like the community of it all.”.
Through months of hard work, hours of memorization, and mental commitment to a role, eventually the show's cast and crew have been working on debuts, and somehow it all ends up being worth it. Not just from the gratification of creating something and the cheers of the audience, but also from the overwhelming consensus that the community built through it transcends any of the challenges they faced on the way.

The Creative Writing Class is a brand new class, started in the school year of 2023. The class is run by Ms. Montgomery, who also teaches many other classes as well. People are wondering what this class is, and what is involved?
The first person I interviewed was Ms. Montgomery, the very person who teaches this class. While interviewing I asked her what other classes she teaches, and how she started this new class. Ms. Montgomery decided to section the class’ work into sections: the first section being short stories and screenplay, and the second section being poems and memoir. Ms. Montgomery said they’re working on, “looking at the different components of a short story.” I decided to interview students from this class, and see what their intake of this class is.
Also besides the Creative Writing Class, she teaches many English classes; those contribute to the start of this new class. I was told that Ms. Montgomery put together a Halloween contest for her students; it consisted of a scary story essay, and whoever wins they get a prize.
I decided to get some intake from Simone Puleo, a student in the Creative Writing Class. Simone told me how the whole class is doing a creative writing assignment, it’s a competition on who can write the best scary story. On top of that, she told me how she liked the class so far and how it will impact her later on saying, “it’s challenging me to become a better writer.” She also said “it’s improving her writing skills” and “improving my voice as a writer.”
Next, I interviewed Terrance and he also told me about the scary story contest. Terrance told me he took classes with Mrs. Montgomery in the past years, and that influenced him to take the Creative Writing class. I asked him if he thinks he has a good chance of winning, and he didn’t seem sure; that means the competition is pretty good.
Finally, I interviewed Gianna and she gave me some more intake on the scary story contest and how she liked the class so far. She told me that she wrote about a man whose wife passed away the year before, and how her spirit is taking over her body. Anyone who comes near the house gets haunted, and the spirit destroys anything related to his wife.
