PBIS is an acronym for Positive Behavior Intervention Support. It is a set of organized practices rather than a specific program. The PBIS theory states that all behavior occurs within a specific environmental context/location (i.e. classroom, cafeteria, playground, etc.) The objective is to teach students specific practices to help them “self-manage” their behaviors. We will teach students to be respectful, responsible, and safe within all locations. Along with location expectations; we will teach students a set of social skills to help develop positive behavior traits.
