The cross on the top of the Rocca has important ties to the community for religious reasons. The current cross was inaugurated on 22nd April, 1932 for the Eucharistic congress of Valtenesi .
The cross on the Rocca is connected to an ancient legend. The story tells that in a cave located on the Rocca, lived a big wolf, who hid there and prevented access to it.
To defeat the animal, a big reward was offered by the local community and many of the local youth took up the challenge.

Three young guys were chosen: one from Moniga, one from Raffa and Tosello, who lived at Pieve, a hamlet of Manerba.
The first one tried to catch it with some bait and the next one with a big trap, but they failed and were thrown from the cliff.
Tosello changed tactics: he hid behind a bush and copied the wolf's cry to entice it to go outside the cave; when the wolf tried to attack the plant, Tosello jumped out with a cross and he ordered the wolf to step back.

The wolf, impotent, went back and fell off the cliff. In memory of Tosello the inhabitant put a cross on the Rocca. The legend says that in the lake are two reefs in memory of the other boys.
