A custody and parenting time evaluation is an investigative process in which the evaluator will interview and gather information regarding parents, children(when age appropriate), and collaterals. This may include mental health, chemical health, and domestic violence information as relevant to the family. The evaluator observes the parties and their relationship. The evaluator will utilize this information to formulate recommendations based on the statute factors in the best interest of the child(ren).  This process takes on average 4 months, but can vary dependant upon information gathered and needed. Prior to a written report summarizing findings, an oral report can be given to aid parties in coming to a settlement agreement.
